Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you want to know before you book - answered honestly, in one place. Can't find what you're looking for? Get in touch with us directly and we'll get back to you promptly.
Getting Started
-
Not at all. Every experience and retreat we offer is designed to welcome you exactly as you are. Our facilitators are skilled at working with complete beginners and experienced practitioners in the same space, and movement sessions are always adapted to the group. If you can show up, you qualify.
-
For us, wellness is the ongoing, personal practice of attending to what you need, in your body, your mind, your relationships and your sense of meaning, so you can live with more presence, resilience and joy. We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all wellness. We believe in helping you discover what genuinely works for your life, your nervous system and your current season. That looks different for everyone, and we’re here to support all of it.
-
The honest answer: reach out and tell us where you are. A fifteen-minute conversation is always more useful than any web page. We’ll help you find the right fit for your time, budget and what you’re actually looking for. Alternatively, our guide to choosing the right experience walks you through the options step by step.

Jenny O’Brien is the founder of Beyond Wellness Co. She brings 25 years of corporate and government leadership experience alongside an ICF Coach Accreditation, a Certificate in Mindfulness Workplace Facilitation, a Mindful Self-Compassion Teacher qualification, and an MBA from Melbourne Business School. Her own experience of burnout and recovery in the Barossa is the foundation of everything we do. Jenny facilitates many of our retreats personally, and our wider team of practitioners, each qualified and experienced in their own field, includes yoga teachers, breathwork facilitators, sound practitioners, nutritionists and remedial massage therapists. Every one of them is hand-selected by Jenny for their skill, their specialist qualifications, their integrity and their genuine care.
-
Honestly, some of our best guests arrive sceptical. You don’t need to believe in anything. The practices we use, from breathwork and movement to sound and time spent in restorative places, work physiologically, not philosophically. Your nervous system will respond regardless of how much enthusiasm you bring. We’d love to prove it to you. You can also read our honest guide for sceptics before deciding.
retreats

Our 2026 calendar features our signature Return to Ground retreats: Return to Ground at Kingsford The Barossa (Friday 31 July to Sunday 2 August) and Return to Ground at Monarto Safari Resort (Friday 30 October to Sunday 1 November), with further dates released across the year. Our retreats are held at some of South Australia’s most extraordinary properties, including Kingsford The Barossa, Monarto Safari Resort and Seppeltsfield. View the full 2026 calendar or join the waitlist for early access.
-
All facilitated sessions (yoga, meditation, guided walks, workshops, sound journey), all meals for the duration, curated from exceptional local produce, and the experience components specific to that retreat. Accommodation is either included or available as an optional add-on, depending on the retreat. Travel to the venue is not included. Full inclusions are listed on each retreat’s individual page.
-
For multi-day retreats, as soon as dates are released. Our retreats have limited places and a consistent waitlist, so availability on the day of release is not guaranteed. For day experiences, two to four weeks in advance is usually workable. For corporate groups, we recommend eight to twelve weeks. For the Wellness Concierge, six to eight weeks gives us the most to work with. When in doubt, earlier is always better.
-
Absolutely, and many of our most meaningful retreat experiences involve solo attendees. Coming alone often produces a deeper experience, because all of your attention is available to the retreat itself rather than managing a relationship alongside it. Our facilitation creates genuine connection between participants from early in the day, and guests who arrived not knowing anyone consistently describe the connections formed as one of the highlights. Read our full guide for solo travellers if you’d like more detail.
-
Comfortable clothes you can move in. Nothing needs to be yoga-specific. Layers, as South Australian mornings can be cool even in warmer months. Walking shoes suitable for light trails. A reusable water bottle. Sunscreen and a hat for outdoor sessions. A notebook if you like to write, as many guests find retreats generate thoughts worth capturing. Everything else is provided. Leave your laptop at home.
-
Retreats can be genuinely supportive during hard seasons. The combination of place, community and skilled facilitation is often exactly what people need. That said, if you’re currently experiencing a mental health crisis, please speak with your GP or a mental health professional before booking. Our facilitators are qualified and experienced, but our retreats are not a substitute for clinical mental health care. If you’re unsure, reach out and we’ll have an honest conversation.
-
In most cases, yes. Please tell us when you enquire. We adapt movement practices, walking distances and activities to accommodate a wide range of physical needs. Our retreats are designed for real people, not athletes. If you have a specific concern, we’d rather know about it in advance so we can make sure the experience is right for you.
Destination experiences
-
We offer experiences across South Australia’s most distinctive settings. In the Barossa: the Aerial Nature Adventure (helicopter flight and guided walk), guided walks with yoga or sound journey, and accommodation wellness packages. In the Adelaide Hills: Beyond The Lane (e-biking, mindfulness and a long lunch at The Lane Vineyard) and the Jurlique Farm experience. In Adelaide CBD: Awaken Adelaide (sunrise wellness walk along the Torrens), Breathe and Be (mindfulness in the Adelaide Botanic Garden), and Garden to Glass, a wine and wellness pathway for groups. We also offer a Wellness Concierge for fully personalised experiences.
-
Half-day experiences run approximately three to four hours. Full-day experiences run six to eight hours, including transitions between locations within the experience. The specific duration of each experience is listed on its individual page. If you’re unsure, ask us. We’d rather give you a clear picture than have you plan your day around uncertainty.
-
No. Our walks are mindful walks, not fitness hikes. They move at a pace that works for every member of the group, on accessible terrain. The goal is to notice where you are, not to cover distance. If you have specific mobility considerations, let us know and we’ll confirm the experience is appropriate.
-
The Wellness Concierge is our bespoke service for people who want an experience designed entirely around them. It begins with a conversation, understanding what you need, where you are in life, what you’ve tried and what hasn’t worked. From there, we design the location, the practitioners, the accommodation and the pace. We handle every element of the logistics. You simply arrive. It’s available for individuals, couples, groups and corporate clients. Visit our Wellness Concierge page to learn more.
-
Yes. Gifted experiences are one of our most requested offerings. Any Beyond Wellness experience or retreat can be gifted, and we also offer gift credits for recipients who’d prefer to choose their own timing. Contact us with who you’re buying for and what feels right, and we’ll guide you to the perfect option and arrange the gift documentation. Read our gifting guide for more.
corporate wellbeing
-
We offer a full range of workplace wellbeing solutions: corporate retreats (multi-day, set at premium SA venues), dynamic team days (full or half-day, across Barossa, Adelaide Hills and CBD locations), and a suite of facilitated workshops including Managing Compassion Fatigue, Managing Stress and Burnout, Strengthening Inner Resilience, Power of the Breath, and Developing a Personalised Wellbeing Plan. We also design tailored bespoke solutions for specific organisational needs. Visit our Workplace Wellbeing Solutions page for full details.
-
We work with teams from as small as six people. For larger groups and major corporate events, we scale facilitation accordingly. There’s no upper limit, so reach out with your group size and we’ll tell you exactly what’s possible.
-
Both. Many of our corporate workshops are designed to be delivered at your workplace or chosen venue. Our retreat and team day experiences take place at our curated South Australian locations, which is intentional, as the change of environment is part of what makes them work. We’re happy to discuss what format best suits your team.
-
Yes. All of our corporate experiences can be designed without an alcohol component. Our Barossa experiences can incorporate wine as an optional element without centering it. The wellbeing and experience components are always the priority.
-
We understand that getting sign-off can be as challenging as choosing the right experience. We can provide a tailored proposal that includes the evidence base, cost-per-head comparisons and outcome frameworks, everything you need for an internal conversation. Read our guide for HR leaders, or reach out and we’ll prepare something specific to your organisation.
-
The outcomes organisations value most are practical and lasting. Participants consistently tell us they feel less stressed and more connected with their colleagues by the end of the day, which matters most for teams that work partly remotely. The tools people most often name as worth carrying forward are the breathwork techniques and the wellbeing frameworks. Managers frequently notice a lift in team energy and communication in the weeks that follow. If you’d like to track outcomes formally, we can build measurement into your program. coaching & programs
-
Jenny offers ICF-accredited coaching that works at the intersection of professional performance and personal wellbeing. Sessions are sixty minutes, by video or in person in the Barossa or Adelaide. The first session is about listening, genuinely, and without rushing toward a framework. From there, the work is shaped by what you actually need: clarity, practical tools, stress and nervous system management, support through a transition, or simply a skilled thinking partner who holds your situation with both care and clear eyes.
-
Our current programs include the Menopause Wellness Workshop, a full-day facilitated workshop for women navigating perimenopause and menopause, combining physiology, practical tools and community, and a resilience retreat grounded in evidence-based work on courage, vulnerability and resilience. We also offer bespoke coaching programs for organisations and individuals. Visit our Programs page for full details.
-
Women who are in perimenopause or menopause and want more than a diagnosis and a pamphlet. Women who are coping but know they could be coping better, with more tools and more company. It’s also for women who are pre-menopausal and want to arrive at this transition better prepared. The workshop is evidence-informed, warmly facilitated by Jenny, and held in a beautiful South Australian setting. It is not a medical consultation and does not replace clinical care. Visit the workshop page for dates and details.
-
No, and the distinction matters. Coaching works with people who are fundamentally functioning well but want to navigate a situation more effectively, develop specific skills, or think through a complex challenge with a skilled partner. If you need clinical mental health support, Jenny will say so clearly and help you find the right referral. Coaching and therapy can work alongside each other, and Jenny works in parallel with clinical practitioners when appropriate.
